What happens to your MPEG

MPEG-1/2 video is re-encoded to H.264 and MP2/AC-3 audio to AAC. Expect a file several times smaller at similar quality.

Tip: Interlaced DVD footage shows comb lines on motion; tick "Deinterlace" in the options for a cleaner result.

Questions

Can I convert a whole DVD?

You can convert individual unencrypted VOB files. Encrypted commercial DVDs cannot be read.

Is my MPEG file uploaded?

No. The MPEG is read from your device by FFmpeg running as WebAssembly in the page, and the MP4 is written back to your device. No server ever receives it.

Is there a size limit for MPEG to MP4?

We set none. The practical limit is browser memory: roughly 2 GB of output on a computer, and much less on phones.
